Seal High Back Lounge Chair

Similar to his colleagues Hans Wegner or Børge Mogensen, Danish designer Ib Kofod-Larsen trained as a carpenter before attending architecture school. Armed with a deep understanding of the innate characteristics of gorgeous woods and rich leathers, Kofod-Larsen designed several arresting furniture exhibitions in the 1940s, and he won the annual award from the Danish Cabinetmakers’ Guild in 1948. A few years later, Swedish furniture maker OPE Möbler commissioned Kofod-Larsen to design a series of Danish furniture to help stimulate the then-sluggish Swedish furniture industry. One of those was the elegant Seal Collection (1956), otherwise known as the Sälen Collection, with its carefully shaped wood frames and luxurious leather upholstery. This is the authentic Seal Chair produced by Brdr. Petersens Polstermøbelfabrik. Made in Denmark.
